DETROIT, Mich.–The Friction Material Standards Institute (FMSI) has entered into a multi-year agreement with Integrate Data Facts to improve and enhance the operations of the organization.
FMSI is now entering year 3 of an aggressive 5-year plan that included, upgrading our technology and services, protecting our IP and expanding our global membership, says Says FMSI President Frank Oliveto.
IDF will be supplying important Mexico and Latin American application data to fill out the FMSI database. “I am looking forward to this relationship, as FMSI is a tremendous organization,” says Evaristo Garcia Founder of IDF. FMSI also has future expansion plans for Chinese application data.
Friction Materials Standards Institute was founded as a trade association of automotive aftermarket friction manufacturers. Since that time it has performed a very valuable service for the automotive aftermarket – the creation of a standardized part numbering system for brakes and clutch facings.
Not only do the manufacturing members have the right to use this system, but their customers also have that right. From manufacturer through retailer / installer one part number is used as the standard and as a common language – the FMSI number.
Membership in FMSI is open to any manufacturer of friction and related products covered by the trademarked FMSI® and FMS® part numbers. Other participants in this industry may be eligible for licensee membership.
FMSI will have a booth at the Automotive Aftermarket Products EXPO in Las Vegas in November.
