LEVERKUSEN, Germany — Textar has extended its range with the technician in mind, launching seven expanding lock accessory kits for handbrake shoes, especially suitable for a number of popular van makes and models.

These include VW Multivan V, Multivan VI, Caravelle VI, Transporter V, Transporter VI and Crafter 30-50; Mercedes-Benz Vito, Sprinter 3.5-t, Sprinter 3-t, Sprinter 4.6-t and Sprinter 5-t; Citroen Relay; Fiat Ducato; and Peugeot Boxer.

The expanding lock kit adjusts to the wear of the shoes to ensure the right friction and hold power, while locking the shoes in a ‘hold’ position to secure the vehicle from unintended rolling.

Textar is recommending changing the lock, rather than simply cleaning it, as the material wear of the lock could lead to reduced functionality in the rolling of the van, meaning the adjuster nut might not be able to adjust correctly.

Cleaning of the parts for re-use might also lead to corrosion, causing the handbrake to get stuck.

Operators and technicians can find the latest Textar products in its online catalog system, Brakebook, which allows customers to search for the right part and create printable catalogues tailored to their individual requirements and in the desired formats.

Alongside the web-based version, the online catalogue is also available via a free mobile app, which gives CV operators and distributors an optimized version of Brakebook, available for both Apple and Android phones.

Like its web-based equivalent, the app shows images of brake products, enabling users to easily compare the measurements of a vehicle’s pads or linings to the phone’s reference.

An overview of the corresponding expanding locks will be included in each handbrake shoe kit packaging. In Brakebook, customers will find the corresponding expanding lock with each shoe kit, with all references ready to order.
