WEDNESBURY, U.K. – With API SP becoming licensable from May 1, 2020, Exol Lubricants has ensured its new generation, fully synthetic, passenger car engine oil, Optima DX1 5W-30 (M497), meets this latest engine oil performance standard.

The new standard specifies more stringent engine oil performance requirements for spark-ignited internal combustion engines.

Put forward by the International Lubricant Standardization Advisory Committee (ILSAC), API SP includes all the ILSAC requirements. It also provides performance requirements for oils that do not fall under ILSAC-member recommendations.

Optima DX1 5W-30 also adheres to API SP-RC standards, which combines API SP performance with improved fuel economy, emission control system protection and protection of engines operating on ethanol-containing fuels up to E85.

“Exol Lubricants is a forward-thinking company, and that’s why we acted fast to ensure we’re meeting the most up-to-date engine oil performance standards,” said Steve Dunn, Exol sales and marketing director. “It highlights our commitment to provide the automotive industry with the reassurance that our robust engine oils can continue to meet the needs of current and future gasoline engines.”

Optima DX1 5W-30 is a new generation, fully synthetic passenger car engine oil formulated with premium base stocks and specialized performance additives.

With many downsized, turbocharged, petrol direct injection engines entering the market, specific demands are being placed on the engine lubricant. Among these are Low Speed Pre-Ignition (LSPI) issues and chain wear, and Optima DX1 5W-30 is specifically formulated to reduce both problems.

Recommended for use in many Vauxhall models with turbocharged, petrol direct injection engines to counter LSPI issues, Optima DX1 5W-30 offers low speed pre-ignition reduction; enhances fuel economy; has proven anti-wear protection; offers high-quality piston cleanliness; and protects against sludge.
