ELYRIA, Ohio –Bendix Commercial Vehicle Systems LLC (Bendix), a member of the Knorr-Bremse Group, has announced the signing of a collaboration agreement with Noregon® to jointly develop advanced vehicle diagnostics for the North American commercial vehicle market.

Under the agreement, Bendix and Noregon will work together to introduce and incorporate technology advancements to further enhance diagnostics for Bendix products in the marketplace.

Sharing a vision of increased vehicle uptime and improved performance, the partnership collaboration aims to utilize both organizations’ unique expertise in vehicle system advanced diagnostics to create the best possible customer experience.

“The rapid evolution of vehicle technology means the need for connectivity and information is more critical than ever,” said Scott Burkhart, Bendix vice president – sales, marketing, and business development. “Offering effective, strongly integrated tools for technicians to help them repair vehicles faster is our goal. Our active collaboration is the result of two industry leaders focused on effective, integrated tools that can help increase productivity and efficiency.”

“For more than 25 years, we have listened to technicians and built tools that improve their efficiency. As we move forward, our goal is to continue to deliver unprecedented innovation, functionality, and value to organizations in the commercial vehicle industry,” Bill Hathaway, Noregon executive chairman, said. “Working side-by-side, the established leader in North American vehicle diagnostics, and the leader in braking and advanced driver assistance systems will transform this dynamic marketplace.”

A first step in this technology enhancement initiative began in early 2019 when Bendix implemented a licensed key-based download registration – powered by Noregon – for downloads of its popular Bendix® ACom® Diagnostics software. The move bolsters cybersecurity, as well as streamlines communication for future-generation ACom software updates moving forward.

Just the Beginning

With the backdrop of game-changing industry trends and technology introductions, robust diagnostics, prognostics, and actionable data remain key elements of the technology pathway to highly automated and autonomous vehicles.

According to Burkhart, the collaboration “will provide the commercial vehicle marketplace with an outstanding diagnostic tool they have come to expect from us.”
