ELYRIA, Ohio –Bendix Commercial Vehicle Systems LLC, the North American leader in the development and manufacture of active safety, air management, and braking system technologies for commercial vehicles, recently completed the 2020 ISO 14001 external audit cycle for all of its facilities across five locations.

ISO, the International Organization for Standardization, focuses on environmental management systems in ISO 14001. The standard is intended for use by an organization seeking to manage its environmental responsibilities in a systematic manner that contributes to the environmental pillar of sustainability. In 2018, across all its locations, Bendix completed ISO 14001:2015 transition audits, the latest standard.

Bendix operations completing the ISO 14001 external audit cycle were the facilities in Acuña, Mexico; Bowling Green, Ky.; the Elyria headquarters; Huntington, Ind., and Mexico City, Mexico. The company is a member of the Munich-based Knorr-Bremse Group.

The achievement fulfills customer obligations for continued certification, while demonstrating the company’s commitment to compliance with regulatory requirements – as well as the continual improvement of the company’s management systems.

“Through the third-party certification, Bendix’s customers, suppliers, and other stakeholders can maintain confidence that the company has properly implemented the standard’s requirements,” said Maria Gutierrez, director of corporate responsibility and sustainability. “This year is a milestone in that we are moving from individual site-level certificates to a single Bendix Corporate certificate. This demonstrates a new level of maturity for Bendix’s environmental management system and reinforces more than ever our commitment to continually improve our processes in ways that are beneficial to the environment.”

Bendix has had facilities certified to the ISO 14001 standard dating back to 1999, with its Acuña location.
