SAINT-AUBIN-SAUGES, Switzerland – Slowing and stopping a tractor pulling a trailer can be dangerous because hydrostatic tractor transmissions can dramatically slow the tractor without any operation of the brake pedal which means no activation of the trailer’s brakes. BEKA’s new motorized hydropneumatics valve can activate the trailer’s brakes in such circumstances, thus avoiding any potential danger.

A CAN-BUS connected motorized valve will activate the trailer’s brake with or without brake pedal actuation. Moreover, the system could compensate the hysteresis effect of the valve, due to internal friction.

Thanks to the precision control of an automotive designed torque motor and two pressure sensors, the patented BEKA motorized valve reacts extremely precisely and fast to the position calculated by the controller.

Logical programmable behaviour could be added to the controller:

  • Electrical parking brake
  • Electrical shut off valve (pressure monitoring)
  • Electrical progressive auxiliary brake
  • Spring return and/or current inversion

Other safety features include:

  • In line construction allowing a permanent redundancy with hydraulic circuit
    • Hydraulic: push on the pneumatic piston
    • Electrical motor: pull on the pneumatic piston
  • Self-diagnostic (position, temperature….)
  • Pressure monitoring (hydraulic and pneumatic pressure)
